GRIFT, short for Groupe de Recherche Images et Formes de Tunisie, is the Computer Vision and Machine Learning research group within the CRISTAL Laboratory (Center for Research in Networks, Images, Systems, Architecture, and Multimedia) at ENSI (The National School of Computer Science, Manouba University). Established in 1999 by Professor Faouzi Ghorbel, GRIFT has become a reference in advanced Geometric Machine Learning, Statistical Shape, Image analysis, Pattern recognition, and Intelligent systems.
The GRIFT group introduces methods that are:
- Invariant to transformations such as rotation, translation, and scaling
- Equivariant representations preserving geometric relationships
- Stable and robust to noise, occlusion, and deformation
Our research covers the following key areas:
- Shape Descriptors and Invariants: Design of novel descriptors for 2D/3D shape analysis
- Geometric Deep Learning: Adapting neural networks to non-Euclidean domains such as point clouds, meshes, and manifolds
- Image Morphing and Registration: Non-linear matching and interpolation of images and 3D shapes for applications like data augmentation and medical imaging
- 3D Face Analysis: Classification, reconstruction, and morphing of 3D face point clouds using geometry-aware algorithms
- Cultural Heritage and Biomedical Applications: Recognition and enhancement of visual data from heritage artifacts and medical scans
- Remote Sensing and Hyperspectral Image Analysis: Dimensionality reduction, classification, and fusion of multisource remote sensing data
Our interdisciplinary approach bridges theory and application, aiming to produce scientifically sound and practically relevant methods.
